But, with around 32,000 AI tools out there and issues over copyright, the subject can seem “hugely overwhelming” says Deep Fusion Films co-founder and CEO Ben Field.
Used well, AI can help small indies behave like bigger ones. But with legislation emerging and court cases over copyright changing the boundaries, it can also be a legal and ethical minefield.
As the managing director of consultancy AIMICI Kathryn Webb says, budgets cuts and market contraction means there is “increasing pressure on everybody to do more” for less - motivating many to use AI.
She says the tech is being adopted by around 66% of TV broadcasters globally and although, “lots of people” are using it, many are “nervous to talk about it.”
