This week sees the start of the eagerly-anticipated BBC comedy Twenty Twenty Six - the follow up to Twenty Twelve and W1A.

The latest instalment in the Ian Fletcher franchise of corporate and interpersonal dynamics is based around a global football tournament in the USA that is absolutely, definitely not (for branding and legal reasons) the FIFA World Cup.

For the show, north London’s Mill Hill doubles as Miami and, whilst filming took place before the war in Iran began, such moves could become more prevalent as the industry tries to factor in the current geopolitical situation.

With a looming energy crisis, flight costs increasing and some countries introducing measures such as fuel rationing, many are working out how it affects production.

So this week we’ve taken a deep dive into what the impact might be, what broadcasters and streamers are doing about it and how you can think strategically to mitigate some of the effects.

So read on to find out:

  • The current state of play

  • How to plan during unpredictable times

  • Lessons that can be learnt from other productions

  • Broadcasters and streamers’ response
