Marc Lorber reveals top market bets and smart moves to get your next project funded and greenlit
“There’s still a lot of opportunity out there” is the encouraging news from Marc Lorber, an executive producer on the current BBC Northern Ireland Julia Roberts-narrated adaptation of Ronan Hession’s novel Leonard and Hungry Paul.
Ex-Lionsgate exec Lorber - who has a consultancy called The Art of Coproduction and describes himself as an “enabler of scripted and unscripted TV” - has an EP credit on a huge list of scripted and unscripted titles. They include the BBC Scotland and Sky New Zealand psychological thriller The Ridge and Icelandic drama Masquerade – which he has been working on with the producer of Severance.
But he says there are some key questions you need to be asking, particularly about tax credits, and he also has advice on mistakes to avoid that will give you the best chance of coming away with a deal.
